Swedish polska is no stranger to balfolk dance floors, but this time, we’re heading across the border to Norway to discover pols!

Get ready for northern energy and plenty of turning — in many different ways. We’ll start with the basic steps and rhythm, making sure everyone can join in, even if you’ve never danced pols or polska before. From there, we’ll gradually build up, exploring different turns and variations, and playing with the flow of the dance.

  6. Sunday 15:00–17:00 Room 1

iNdividual expression through contact in couple

A couple dancing close, heads almost touching

“You talkin’ to me?” — co-leading workshop

Natalia · Poland

Advanced Friday 14:30–16:30 Room 2

What if we look at the dance as a dialogue between two people, rather than a one-way speech?

In this workshop we explore co-leading in couple dances: how both partners can actively listen, propose, respond and influence the dance. We'll play with the balance between initiative and receptivity, discovering how ideas can travel from one dancer to the other — sometimes without either of us knowing exactly where the dance will go. Through playful exercises we'll explore shared weight, connection, musicality and improvisation.

You'll learn to propose, provoke, support, redirect — and, most importantly, listen. We'll play with shifting initiative, shared decisions, unexpected responses, and the delicious uncertainty of not knowing who will take the dance somewhere next.

Roberto and Anna in the mountains

Dancing the connection

Roberto & Anna · Italy

Advanced Saturday 12:00–14:00 Room 2

Connecting with others while dancing, as a sensory experience that engages the whole body. We will explore the hidden rhythm that arises in the silent space between you and the other person, turning movement into subtle, shared communication. We will work on listening on several levels — where, sometimes, harmony is born.

Justė laughing while feeding a goat, and Augustas dancing in violet light

Scottish — advanced rhythmical variations

Augustas & Justė · Lithuania

Advanced Sunday 12:00–14:00 Room 2

Designed for advanced dancers, this workshop skips the basic step and dives straight into refining your Scottish technique. We'll deconstruct the dance to understand its mechanics and push past the usual patterns, then add subtle, elegant nuances that bring more sophistication and dynamic expression to your posture and flow.

Finally we'll challenge your musicality with complex rhythmic variations that play with footwork and syncopation — sharper timing, and fresh freedom to bring detail and variety to the Scottish.

Energy up, energy down — variation beyond style in improvised dance

Alena · Poland

Advanced Sunday 15:00–17:00 Room 2

Every dance can tell a whole story. Do you know what colour your energy is on the dance floor? And what exactly do we mean by "energy" in dance?

We'll look for answers — and then play with energy in partner dances: tossing it back and forth like a ball, directing it inwards, towards your partner, or out into the cosmos. We'll practise changing energy levels within a single dance, which may open new horizons and colours for you. The music ranges from balfolk to contemporary fusion.

Don't confuse this with passing the lead!
